Starting Point

You will start your ride beside two ancient 'castles' - the twin hill forts of the Brown and White Caterthuns, not far from Brechin Castle, then head through the hills on old 'mounth' roads, ministers paths and drove roads, many ridden by Queen Victoria on her travels through this area.

You'll ride beside the River Dee to Balmoral Estate, with a day off to visit local castles. You'll also visit Lochnagar Distillery for a wee dram, and also Braemar Castle and Mar Lodge, before heading again off into the highland hills. You'll ride through wild glens to Corgarff Castle, then on to Tomintoul, the highest village in Scotland and the UK. From here we'll head again through the highland hills and tall pines of the beautiful Caledonian Forest to Aviemore, where you'll finish the ride.

  • Please wear sensible footwear (open toed shoes are not allowed for riding)
  • Waterproof jacket
